Krzysztof Glowacki (26-0, 16 KOs) defeated Steve Cunningham (28-8-1, 13 KOs) on points in a duel fought at the Premier Boxing Champions Show in New York. The Pole thus defended his first world WBO cruiserweight title.
The match started at a fast pace. Both fighters dealt a lot of punches and did not let each other impose opponent's conditions. In the second round Cunningham fell on the ring twice after the accurate left hand punches of "Head".The American refused to be counted out and boxed on, causing Glowacki a lot of problems. Cunningham's liveliness and long arms range took a toll on the Polish boxer, who sometimes had problems with the right sense of distance.
Despite Cunningham's initial problems he remained active, while the Pole hunted for strong left hand punches. In the tenth round the American was counted out again, this time after a short right punch of "Head". Both fighters were tired, but none of them wanted to give up. At the end of the fight the American stepped forward, looking for a chance to make up for the loss of points and boxed much more aggressive than usual. Glowacki stepped back and waited for an opportunity for effective counter-attacks. Cunningham's offensive tactics was his undoing in the last round, when he was counted out again after the strong beats of the Pole.
After twelve rounds the judges pointed 116-108 and 115-109 twice for Glowacki, who defended won in August 2015 the World Boxing Organization belt.

When less than seven years ago Krzysztof Glowacki made his first steps on the professional rings, few people believed that this modest, always smiling boy from Walcz will win the hearts of fans with the heroic fight for one of the most prestigious trophies in the world of professional boxing.
He made his debut in October 2008 at a small boxing show at the hotel "U Pietrzakow" in Zielonka, winning the fight against Mariusz Radziszewski. Then, at a rapid pace, by the end of the year he had already notched four victories. He owed his rapid advances his hard work, great humility, respect for opponents and obedience to trainers.
Tomasz Babilonski noticed "Glowka" („The Head”) when the boxer practiced Olympic boxing.
Above average skills, charisma and being fond of boxing caused him to be invited to wage a few amateur fights at boxing shows organized already in 2006. Marek Matela – a boxing activist, ring announcer and „The Head”'s mate – describes in great words the inside story of Krzysztof 's passing to professional boxing:
It was the Olympic year 2008. Then, after dropping out of the last fight guaranteeing to start in Beijing, Krzysztof Glowacki decided to change boxing from amateur to professional. In Walcz there were no conditions and possibilities to maintain such a master. Then Tomasz Babilonski called me and asked how much we wanted for Krzysztof because he wanted him in his group. We agreed on the details very quickly, Krzysztof was satisfied.
Promoter's belief in the possibilities of his charge and Krzysztof's determination led to more and more difficult opponents and finally resulted in the first title of Master Baltic Boxing Union International. Then there was the Polish Champion International belt and the first in Krzysztof's collection WBO Inter-Continental belt. Establishing the cooperation between Babilon Promotion of Tomasz Babilonski and Sferis KnockOut Promotions of Andrzej Wasilewski and Piotr Werner, and thus co-promotion of Krzysztof Glowacki, resulted in the extension of the coaching staff and openness to fights abroad. The title of the World Champion WBO, won last night at the Prudential Center, Newark became a great summary of existing cooperation of Tomasz Babilonski and "The Head". The entire crew of Babilon Promotion with Tomasz Babiloński at the head congratulates you, Krzysztof! It's worth believing!!!

In a WBO cruiserweight eliminator, WBO #1 ranked Krzysztof “Head” Glowacki (24-0, 15 KOs) cruised to a twelve round unanimous decision over #3 rated Nuri “Albanian Tyson” Seferi (36-7, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at the Hala Sportowo-Widowiskowa in Toruń, Poland. The unbeaten hometown hero Glowacki used his height, reach and movement to keep the shorter Seferi at bay. Seferi stalked Glowacki around the ring but was nowhere near busy enough. Scores were 118-110, 118-110, 120-108. Glowacki claimed Seferi’s WBO Europe belt and is now mandatory challenger for WBO champion Marco Huck.
